The local elementary
school principal made
it a practice to visit
each class room one
day a week.
He walked into the 4th
grade class, where the
children were studying
the states.
“I’d like you to start
reciting all the states
you know and I’ll write
them on the board as
you list them,” the principal
told the class.
The students took
turns raising their
hands and listing
new states. When the
hand-raising stopped,
the principal counted
40 state names on the
board.
