Current Research<br />

My current research is focused on study gamma-ray spectroscopy on neutron-rich nuclei. Studies of<br />

atomic nuclei far from the valley of stability provide a unique opportunity to increase our<br />

understanding of nuclear interactions in extreme conditions and often challenge theoretical models. In<br />

exotic nuclei, far from the valley of beta-stability, a small change in the numbers of protons (Z) and<br />

neutrons (N) can drastically modify their internal structure and lead to new nuclear phenomena.<br />

Fundamental information to understand how nuclear structure and internal interactions between protons<br />

and neutrons are affected by such variations is desirable both theoretically and experimentally.<br />

My research focuses on the origin of very energetic particles in solar flares and high energy<br />

astrophysical sources. In particular, I am using observations to probe the particle acceleration by<br />

turbulent electromagnetic fields in solar flares, low-luminosity supermassive black holes, radio<br />

galaxies, and supernova remnants.<br />
