Current Research
Current research is focused in a number of areas. There is ongoing work to model and understand the
evolution of self-gravitating protoplanetary discs, especially when considering more realistic initial
conditions. A new project will also start investigating the role of convection in self-gravitating discs, to
see if this can play a significant role in energy transport. Related to this is a project looking at the
evolution of close-in giant planets, more commonly known as ‘hot Jupiters’ to try and understand how
they get to their current positions.
