Current Research
My research has been in three areas: I lead the Glasgow ZEUS team at the DESY laboratory in
Hamburg. ZEUS is in the process of analysiing the complete dataset taken with HERA II. The
Glasgow team, in collaboration with physicists from Oxford and Kiev is engaged in a programme of
prompt photon analyses. On the CDF experiment, I am working with the rest of the Glasgow group
and with other physicists from CDF, in particular from the university of Chicago, in searches for
different kinds of Higgs bozon. On the ATLAS-FP project, I am working with other UK teams and
other ATLAS teams to mount an addition to the existing ATLAS detector in which we shall tag
forward scattered protons using uew silicon detector installations. This will give us further
opportunities to study the Higgs and other new particles should they exist.

Current Research
My research investigates the relationship between chemical structure, the modal properties of
biomacromolecules and high frequency ultrasound. Although primarily focussing upon uncovering
nanoscale biophysical relationships, the work provides a possible framework for better understanding
mechanical sensing and structuring in evolutionary and developmental cell biology.
