Firstly, the design, installation and characterisation of the high voltage system for the innermost sub-detector of the LHCb named Vertex Locator (VELO).LHCb is one of four main experiments of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The VELO is mainly made of silicon strips detectors that need to be reverse biased during operation. This introduces the second topics of my reasearch about the isolation techniques used for p-type silicon detector for LHC upgrade purpose. As the silicon detectors undergo radiation damage their performance decreases and therefore required to supplying higher voltage. Nevertheless the voltage to be applied is limited by the enviroment under which the silicon sensors are used. In this context, p-type silicon strip detectors with different isolation techiques are studied before and after being irradiated. The last part of my research treats one of the main topics of interest in LHC, new physics searches through the rare decay Bd to Kst mu-. My contribution reside in the study of the effects of detector misalignments to this channel. The decay Bd to Kstar mu+ mu- is a Flavour-Changing Neutral Current which proceeds via b to s transition through penguin diagram. It allows indirect searches for New <strong>Physics</strong> phenomena.
