in ecosystem assessments. NRC established a large database on MN and o<strong>the</strong>r nuclear abnormalities in 8<br />

fi sh species and in mussels and clams from <strong>the</strong> Baltic Sea. Fish and bivalve species were collected from 117<br />

coastal and <strong>of</strong>fshore sites. The following organisms have been tested as <strong>the</strong> target species for MN test in<br />

<strong>the</strong> different regions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Baltic Sea:<br />

dab (Limanda limanda,<br />

herring (Clupea harengus),<br />

eelpout (Zoarces viviparus)<br />

plaice (Pleuronectes platessa)<br />

Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua)<br />

Bivalves blue mussels (Mytilus edulis, Mytilus trossulus<br />

Baltic clam (Macoma baltica)<br />

Amphipods Gammarids<br />
