Of the total 138 approved SLRPs in BC, 80 SLRPs (58%) have one or more legal l<strong>and</strong> use objectives established<br />

(Map 10). Of these 80 SLRPs, 16 are at the regional scale, 5 at the sub-regional scale, <strong>and</strong> 59 at the l<strong>and</strong>scape scale.<br />

As an example <strong>of</strong> l<strong>and</strong> use objectives established at the regional scale, the Central <strong>and</strong> North Coast <strong>and</strong> the<br />

South Central Coast <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong> Use Objective Orders support the implementation <strong>of</strong> ecosystem-based management<br />

(EBM) for the Coast <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong> Use Decision area.<br />

Map 11 shows the legal l<strong>and</strong> use objective areas established under the <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong> Act, plus the 115 conservancies,<br />

<strong>and</strong> 21 biodiversity, mining <strong>and</strong> tourism areas. All these areas were implemented as part <strong>of</strong> the Coast <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong><br />

Use decision. The l<strong>and</strong> use objectives established under the <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong> Act include cedar stewardship areas, grizzly<br />

management zones, Kermode stewardship areas, non-spatial old growth retention targets, objectives for red <strong>and</strong><br />

blue listed species, <strong>and</strong> aquatic objectives such as identification <strong>of</strong> fisheries sensitive watersheds, <strong>and</strong> stream <strong>and</strong><br />

lake buffer zones.
