Preface The Sixth International Symposium on Autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation was a great success. New avenues were discussed such as the use of immune modulation after transplantation, the use of radiolabelled antibodies incorporated into the transplantation conditioning regimens, the use of peripheral stem cells harvested after mobilization, and the use of stem cell concentrates for transplantation. It is amazing and exciting that so many new developments have surfaced in this symposium. The field is maturing since randomized studies in leukemia and lymphoma to compare high dose therapy with standard treatment have been initiated. The first results are very interesting and are very promising in favor of the concept, "more is better". The quality of this meeting certainly motivates us to organize the 7th symposium in 1994.
