in the plenum should be set out with sufficient accuracy to ensure that the<br />

integrated fittings they serve will be correctly positioned relative to the<br />

suspension grid and the panels.<br />

<strong>Suspended</strong> ceiling manufacturers often provide several combinations of<br />

suspended ceiling components and the architect chooses a specific<br />

configuration which best satisfies the project’s needs. Thus, suspended<br />

ceiling, at the assembly level, is often a “kit-of-the-parts” type design.<br />

6.4 Analyzing <strong>Suspended</strong> <strong>Ceiling</strong> <strong>Design</strong> <strong>Process</strong><br />

with DSM<br />

6.4.1 Research Setting<br />

This research was carried out in the architectural design department of<br />

TEPE Construction Company and in the offices of their engineering<br />

collaborators. Tepe Group Companies began operations in Ankara in 1969,<br />

and the companies are still fully owned by <strong>Bilkent</strong> Holding which belongs to<br />

<strong>Bilkent</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Today the Tepe Group provides total services from<br />

project development to turnkey project turnover. This approach is realized<br />

by full integration of its various companies which deal with such areas as<br />

infrastructure, construction, construction materials, doors, frames, kitchens<br />

and furniture. The engineering collaborators are privately owned firms<br />
