Chapter 3: Mapping ESB Artifacts to Target Domains Adjusting and Applying a Map File to an Archive Once you defined your tailoring rules (see “Adjusting Tailoring Rules to Apply When Creating Map Files” on page 67), and used those rules to create a map file for an ESB export archive (see “Applying Tailoring Rules and Creating a Map File for an Archive” on page 73), you can edit the map file for a target domain and then generate a mapped archive, ready for import into a target domain. Editing the Map File for a Target Domain In your preferred text editor, open the map file you created—RIA_map.xml. If you intend to import the same archive into multiple domains, you can save a step by copying the map file you created and then editing a copy to tune it to each target domain. For this example, the timeToLive is modified in the map file from 0 (forever) to 10000 (msecs) for the getAccountyActivity process for use in Developer Integration Testing: ... Additional String Replacements in the Map File You might do string mapping in the map file. See “Revising and Extending String Replace Maps” on page 68 for more information. Keep in mind that once string replacements have been applied in tailoring, any string replacement in the map file applies to the text patterns in the tailored XAR. When a tailoring is prepared for an archive, you can apply the map file to the original source archive to generate a new archive that has the map instructions applied to the archive. The log option provides a detailing of the actions that occur. As this is the map file for RIA deployment into the Developer Integration Testing (DIT) domain, save the file as RIA_map_DIT.xml. ◆ To apply an edited map to a source archive and create a mapped archive: ❖ In the ESB Admin Tool, enter: Tailoring Rules applyMap source_archive.xar map_file.xml mapped_archive.xar [log_file.xml] For example, to execute this command against the sample RIA.xar and the RIA_map_DIT.xml file you created, you might name the output file RIA_DIT.xar, and the log file RIA_DIT_log.xml. Therefore, the command would be: applyMap C:\RIA.xar C:\RIA_map_DIT.xml C:\RIA_DIT.xar C:\RIA_DIT_log.xml The process creates the target tailored XAR, RIA_DIT.xar and the mapping log, RIA_DIT_log.xml.
