LA ÓPTICA
DEL PROFESOR
La Selección Colombia Sub-20 partió hacia
Argentina con el objetivo de conseguir un cupo
para el Mundial. Lo logró faltando dos fechas y
conquistó el título por primera vez fuera del territorio
colombiano. Ese triunfo merece todo nuestro
reconocimiento al profesor Carlos 'Piscis' Restrepo, a su
cuerpo técnico, a los jugadores y a los directivos de la
Federación Colombiana por haberle dado las
herramientas necesarias para alcanzar dicho objetivo.
El equipo jugó partidos con buen manejo, fueron
colectivos, recuperaban y entregaban bien la pelota,
controlaban los ritmos y eran eficaces a la hora de
definir. También hubo compromisos donde predominó lo
individual, problemas en los cobros de pelota quieta,
poca asociación, mermados físicamente y poca
ambición. En esta categoría son normales los altibajos,
producto de su proceso de maduración físico, orgánico y
mental. Por eso el trabajo debe fortalecerse para el
Mundial.
Es importante darle continuidad al cuerpo técnico.
Ganó el cupo, fue campeón, conoce el grupo y es el
momento para que fortalezca el trabajo y pueda
encontrar más jugadores. Es básico que tenga amistosos
en Europa para adquirir experiencia.
Es un grupo unido, comprometido, todos en
proceso de maduración personal y futbolística. Otro de
los objetivos es promoverlos a la Selección Mayor a
futuro y veo con condiciones a Cristian Bonilla, Juan
Fernando Quintero, Juan Pablo Nieto y John Córdoba.
Las selecciones colombianas pasan por un buen
momento. La Sub-20 vuelve a un Mundial con el
objetivo de superar el tercer puesto en ese torneo
internacional. Quintero ya ha sido convocado por el
técnico Pekerman y eso contribuyó para que asumiera
con más responsabilidad el papel de líder.
Las figuras a tener en cuenta de este torneo
jugado en Argentina están los chilenos Diego Rubio y
Bryan Rabello, los peruanos Cristian Benavente, Jean
Deza y Yordi Reyna, también los paraguayos Cardozo
Lucena y Jorge Rojas. El Sudamericano Juvenil es de
mucha exigencia física ya que el tiempo de recuperación
es poco. El bajo rendimiento de Argentina y Brasil es un
llamado para revisar profundamente los factores.

El trabajo interdisciplinario en el deporte es muy
importante, porque los profesionales como psicólogos,

trabajadores sociales, nutricionistas, entre otros, apoyan
el trabajo humano que a nuestros futbolistas les hace
mucha falta. En la Selección de Mayores y la Sub-20 de
Colombia sumaron el trabajo psicológico como una
herramienta más para el crecimiento personal. Mejoran
el trabajo en equipo, fortalecen las relaciones
interpersonales, detectan a los líderes, se aprende a
manejar el triunfo y la derrota.
La Selección Chilena está conformada por
jugadores con buen manejo y temperamento, pero en la
etapa decisiva se quedaron mentalmente. La parte
psicológica hay que entrenarla permanentemente, sobre
todo en esta edad. Paraguay mostró su identidad de
buen juego aéreo y fortaleza. Contra Colombia no
supieron manejar el favoritismo.
La Selección Colombia supo manejar el deseo de
ser campeón y la adversidad de tenerle que ganar a
Paraguay. Pusieron entrega, orden y goles para alzarse
con el título.
The U-20 Colombian National Team left for
Argentina with the purpose of getting a berth for
the World Cup. They succeeded before the two
final dates and conquered the title for the first time
outside the Colombian territory. This triumph deserved
our recognition to professor Carlos “Piscis” Restrepo,
his technical staff, the players and leaders of the
Colombian Federation, for having given them the
necessary tools to reach such objective.
The team played matches with good
performances; they were united, recovered and passed
the ball well, controlling the rhythms and were efficient
at the time to define. There were also commitments
where individualism prevailed, problems with the still
ball, little association in which the individual moves
predominated, physically reduced and a poor ambition.
In this category, ups and downs are normal as the result
of their process of physical, organic and mental
maturing. That is why work must grow stronger for the
World Cup.
It is important to give continuity to the technical
staff. They won the berth, were champions; they know
the group and this is the right moment to reinforce their
work and find more players. It is fundamental for them
to play friendlies in Europe to acquire experience.
They are a united and committed group; all of
them are undergoing a process of maturing and
learning football. Another objective is to promote them
to the Senior National Team in the future and I think the
players with the right conditions are the following:
Cristian Bonilla, Juan Fernando Quintero, Juan Pablo
Nieto and John Córdoba.
The Colombian national teams are undergoing a
very good moment. The U-20 returns to a World Cup
with the purpose of surpassing the third place in this
international tournament. Quintero has already been
summoned by coach Pekerman and that has
contributed to his considering the leading role with
greater responsibility.
Among the players to be taken into account in this
tournament played in Argentina we have Chileans

Benavente, Jean Deza and Yordi Reyna, also the

South American competition is known for its physical
demands, since the time of recovery is short.
The low levels of efficiency and capacity discovered in
Argentina and Brazil are simply a red light to review all
factors deeply.
NECESSARY PSYCHOLOGY
The interdisciplinary work in sport is very important
because many professionals like psychologists, social
workers, and nutritionists, among others, are in favour of
the human work that our footballers need. In the Senior
National Team and the U-20 squad in Colombia, they
considered the psychological work as one more
tool for the personal growth of their players. They
improve by working as a team, strengthening
interpersonal relations, detecting the leaders, and
learning to handle triumph and defeat.
The Chilean National Team is made up by players
with a good handling of the ball and temperament,
though in the decisive stage they remained mentally
appalled. The psychological part must be permanently
trained especially at that age. They were committed and
put order and goals to attain the title.
The Colombian National Team knew how to
handle their longing to be champions and the difficulty
of having to surpass Paraguay. They put commitment,
order and goals to win the title.
