team conformed by the vote of
more than 50,000 footballers
summoned by FIFPro, the
international organization that
represents them. In addition to
Messi, Radamel Falcao García
and Brazilians Dani Alves and
Marcelo received the FIFA/FIFPro
World XI. The eleven of the year
2012 is conformed by Casillas,
Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Sergio
Ramos, Marcelo; Andrés Iniesta,
Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernández;
Cristiano Ronaldo, Falcao and
Messi.
The fantastic Colombian
Carlos Valderrama climbed on
the stage to present the Puskas
Prize to the best player of the
year. The “Kid” made some jokes
with Gullit, who put on a wig to
recall the aspect he had when
they coincided in the fields of
play. They were part of the

d’Or said: “It’s been very nice to
attain it again in a consecutive
way. I’m really very happy. The
truth is that I’m really enjoying
with what is happening to me
and my national team. There’s
still the World Cup ahead.
Being the world champion
cannot be compared with
anything else”.
As to Argentina’s
combination team he added:
“We know that we are walking
along the right track, but we still
have to grow as a team and
we have a large margin of
improvement due to the group
we form. We want to win the
qualification as soon as possible
to begin to prepare ourselves
and grow stronger”.
He scored 91 goals in 2012,
though he doubts if that was his
best year. “I don’t know. I’d have
liked to achieve more group titles
than the individual records, but
that was the way things were. I
have to improve in everything I
do. Every new year, my objective
is to improve and not stay with
what I have. As to what I know, I
have to add many things, and in
what I don’t know, I have to try
to keep on learning and
improving”.
He began 2013 with the
