Los galardonados: El mejor arquero
fue Marcelo Salgueiro (Argentina), el
goleador Bruno Xavier (Brasil) y el
más valioso del campeonato resultó
el argentino Luciano Franceschini.
The awards were the following:
the best goakeeper was Marcelo
Salgueiro (Argentina), the topmost
scorer, Bruno Xavier (Brazil), and
the most valuable player of the
championship was the Argentinian
Luciano Franceschini.
in their group, they surpassed
Venezuela and Uruguay to get to
the semifinal. Before 4,000 fans
that encouraged the home team
of coach Francisco Petrasso, they
quickly found themselves at a
disadvantage with a point won by
Federico López Hilaire and then,
Christian Gallegos, after Mederos’
conquest, they equalled twice
their points in the scoreboard.
Once again Medero and twice
Ezequiel López Hilaire increased
the difference, that was again
reduced by Alava. Thus Argentina
secured their world cup tickets
Sensacional triunfo paraguayo ante Brasil. Primera clasificación a un Mundial y pase a
la final. José Echeverría supera a su marcador. Anotó el gol que puso 4-3 el encuentro.
Sensational Paraguayan triumph against Brazil. First qualification to a World Cup
and a pass to the final. José Echeverría surpasses his marker. He scored the goal
that placed the match at a 4-3 score.
since they already knew that they
would not meet the Brazilians in
the final, a situation that at the
same time complicated the
three-coloured possibilities.
CHILE WAS FIFTH
The Reds defined the
entertaining match to their favour
for the fifth place after breaking
the tie with a penalty shoot-out
with Uruguay. It was a 6-6 tie in
which the Light-Blues always
came from behind and were
almost losing by a 6-4 score with
only two more minutes to play.
The good shots from a 9-metre
distance of Frank Carrasco and
Víctor González defined the
location. Chile started the
tournament with two victories,
hence on an equal basis with
Argentina, but they fell in the
penalties finally losing against
Paraguay the possibility of staying
in the competition. Carrasco was
the top scorer with 6 points.
Uruguayan Matías Cabrera had
5 conquests.
The seventh place was for
Colombia by surpassing 4-3 Peru
at the last minute, though the
Peruvians had Ángelo Castro as
their topmost scorer (7). They had
measured forces in the first phase
with a white-and-red victory. The
Colombians who had surpassed
Paraguay in their group, had Erich
Moshamer and Jader Rojas,
scorers of 5 goals each. Venezuela
closed the positions coached by
the former Red Wine footballer
Roberto Cavallo.
THE AWARDS
Argentinian Luciano
Franceschini was awarded a prize
as the championship’s most
valuable player. His teammate
Marcelo Salgueiro turned out to
be the best goalkeeper, whereas
the topmost scorer title was
assigned to Brazilian Bruno Xavier.
The Peruvian National Team was
awarded the Fair Play Prize.
All the prizes were delivered
by Eugenio Figueredo,
CONMEBOL Vice-President and
member of FIFA Beach Soccer
Committee; Claudio Poggi,
Petrino, Lady Mayor of Merlo;
