El estadio Islas Malvinas en tregua. Hierve con sus hinchas apasionados, que hoy disfrutan con el equipo consolidado en Primera.
The Malvinas Islands stadium in a truce. It boils with its passionate fans who at present enjoy the team consolidated in First Division.
team that has shaken the Floresta
quarters for a century.
UP AND DOWN
A hard story of promotions
and relegations kept
strengthening the relation
between the fans and the shirt,
though in 1972, ‘Pepe’ Romero
and Valentín Sánchez headed a
champion team that reached the
topmost category for the first
time after 11 consecutive
triumphs. Those were eight
wonderful years. The champion
title of First ‘B’ in 1992/93 placed
them in National ‘B’. The end of
the century was very hard, with
the loss of the category and a
bankruptcy that was reverted by a
severe reorganization. The fruits
were seen in 2008, when they
won another First ‘B’ tournament.
On 23 May 2010, they had a
surprising triumph by 3-0, visiting
Rosario Central that marked their
return to First Division, where
they have remained since then.
Eighth in the 2010 Opening
Tournament, fifth in the 2012
Closing one, in their best
campaign.
President Horacio Roberto
Bugallo optimistically explained
the present moment they were
living: “I feel the intense emotion
of living the most brilliant moment
of our dear institution. With
firmness and wholly convinced
that we are marching along the
right road, we have evaded
obstacles and that is how we are
taking All Boys to the élite of
Argentine football. We are not
only a football club, since we have
succeeded in growing in our social
and cultural prospects”.
The sportman’s house lodges
youngsters from the interior of the
country who play in the lower
divisions. In the stadium, there
is also a school for 90 pupils.
Training and recreation pitches are
being built In Ezeiza’s premises
and in the Moreno Seat there
is a capturing center of amateur
football promises.
The pupils also practise
basketball, gym, martial arts,
swimming, volleyball, skating,
handball and boxing.
UNTARNISHED FIGURES
Carlos Tevez, Néstor Fabbri
and Mauro Boselli surged form
the lower divisions. In the
Argentine National Team, there
were representatives since 1932
with Atilio Patrignani, Aquiles
Baglietto and Juan Irurieta,
followed by Francisco Sponda,
Salvador D’Alessandro, Luis
Medina and Osvaldo Pérez. The
historical top scorer is Juan Espina
Sívori (127) and the player with
more appearances, Carlos Pol
(330), escorted by Epifanio
Medina, Fernando Sánchez,
Ángel Mamberto and Félix Zárate.
Among the coaches there
were some great ones as José
Manuel Moreno, Adolfo
José ‘Pepe’ Romero
Pedernera, Silvio Marzolini, ‘Pipo’
Rossi, Jorge Maldonado and
Mario Boyé. ‘Pepe’ Romero was
the referral from the bench and
he has a bronze statue made by
the fans. He used to play as a left
midfielder and he made his debut
in the team at 16 years of age. He
retired at 26 after converting 74
goals in 131 matches. In 1986 he
began to work as coach of the
lower divisions. He directed the
team in 2004 and afterwards he
went to Estudiantes de Caseros
and returned in 2006 to be
promoted in two categories and
consolidated among the very best.
Since 1955, the hymn’s
refrain could be heard: “Come on
All Boys, come All Boys”, and then
all of them sing visibly touched:
“Come on All Boys” and they
repeat it fervourously. The fervour
of the Floresta quarters has been
resounding for a whole century.
Congratulations for these
first 100 years!
