MITTEILUNGEN / INFORMATIONS NOISE REGULATION Article 1: OBJECT Are prohibited on the territory of the municipality of Sandweiler all unnecessary noises due to a lack of precaution, that may disturb the tranquillity of the inhabitants by their intensity, continuity, nature, consequences or unpredictability. Article 2: CONTIGUOUS BUILDINGS Within residencies, noises transmitted by neighbouring contiguous premises should not exceed the equivalent noise levels below: – 40 dB (A) between 7am and 22pm – 30 dB (A) between 22pm and 7pm These noise levels are to be measured at the center of the premises normally furnished, doors and windows closed. Are not taken into account noises that are transmitted through windows, doors and roofs in the areas in which measurements are made. Article 3: NIGHT REST Disturbed night rest will be punished by the penalties provided for in Articles 561 and 562 of the Penal Code. Article 4: MUSIC, GAMES AND AMUSEMENTS With regard to sound levels of music within residencies and in their neighborhood, the Grand Ducal Regulation of 16 November 1978 is applicable. Article 5: RADIO EQUIPMENT The use of radio equipment, gramophones and loudspeakers is regulated by the Grand-Ducal Decree of 15 September 1939. Article 6: BOWLING Within the urban area and a smaller distance of 100 m from the town, it is forbidden to bowl: – After 23pm from Sunday to Thursday inc. – After 24pm and before 8am on Fridays and Saturdays. Article 7: EXPLOSIVE DEVICES On the territory of the municipality of Sandweiler, it is forbidden to make use of firecrackers and other explosive objects within the urban area, and a smaller distance of 100 meters from the village. But the mayor may authorize such activities upon request for professional use as well as during public or private holidays. Article 8: GARDENING AND DIY It is prohibited to use devices equipped with noisy engines such as lawnmowers, tillers, chain saws and other similar devices in the urban area and a distance of 100 meters from the town: – before 8am and after20pm on business days - before 9am, between12pm and 14pm, as well as after 18pm on Saturdays - until 10am and after 12pm on Sundays and holidays Article 9: WORK FOR NON-PROFESSIONAL REASONS The work done by individuals for non-professional reasons, or on private property located within the urban area and a smaller distance of 100 meters from the town, either inside an apartment located in a building or a group of buildings for residential use, using internal combustion engines or electrical noise such as cement mixers, chainsaws, drills, planers, sanders and other tools, are banned according to the schedule below: – before 8am or after 20pm on working days - before 8am and after18pm on Saturdays - until 10am and after12am on Sundays and holidays Article 10: BUSINESS AND CONSTRUCTION SITES Companies and construction sites are subject to the provisions of the Grand Ducal Regulation of 13 February 1979 on the noise level in the immediate vicinity of establishments and construction sites. Articel 11: CIRCULATION In terms of movement, protection against noise is regulated by articles 25, 25ter and 160 of the amended Grand-Ducal Decree of 23 November 1955 regulating traffic on all roads. On the territory of the municipality of Sandweiler, the provisions contained in Article 25, 25b and 160 of the amended Grand-Ducal Decree of 23 November 1955 regulating traffic on all public roads are also applicable outside of public roads and channels open to the public if they are intended to protect against noise. Article 12: AIR TRAFFIC In terms of general aviation the protection against noise is regulated by the instructions of the command of the Luxembourg Airport. In accordance with these instructions, it is forbidden to fly over residential areas of the municipality of Sandweiler, except in emergencies.

The Mayor will give notice to the owner or keeper of animals and take all measures to that effect. Article 14: PENAL PROVISIONS I As far as the laws and bylaws have not determined higher penalties, infringements of the provisions of this Regulation, with the exception of Article 12, shall be punished with imprisonment from one to seven days or with a fine ranging from €6,2 to €61.97 or one of these penalties. Article 15: PENAL PROVISIONS II As far as the laws and bylaws have not determined higher penalties, offenses concerning Article 12 shall be punished by a fine up to €2478,94.
