Pour évaluer <strong>la</strong> <strong>de</strong>man<strong>de</strong> potentielle <strong>de</strong>s différentstypes <strong>de</strong> métho<strong>de</strong>s contraceptives, on a <strong>de</strong>mandé aux femmesen union ayant l’intention d’utiliser <strong>la</strong> contraception dansl’avenir, <strong>de</strong> spécifier <strong>la</strong> métho<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> leur choix. Il ressort dutableau 5.14 que les métho<strong>de</strong>s mo<strong>de</strong>rnes (82 %) ont été lesplus fréquemment citées, avec notamment 57 % pour lesinjectables, 14 % pour <strong>la</strong> pilule et 6 % pour les imp<strong>la</strong>nts.Parmi les métho<strong>de</strong>s traditionnelles, <strong>la</strong> continence périodiqueest celle qui a été <strong>la</strong> plus citée (9 %).5.9 SOURCES D'INFORMATION SUR LACONTRACEPTIONL’utilisation <strong>de</strong>s médias est un moyen indispensablepour l’information et <strong>la</strong> sensibilisation en matière <strong>de</strong>contraception. Elle permet aussi <strong>la</strong> vulgarisation et ledéveloppement <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> pratique contraceptive. Chez les hommes <strong>de</strong> 50-59 ans, cette proportion est <strong>de</strong> 73 %.C’est surtout par le biais <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> radio que les femmes et les hommes ont reçu <strong>de</strong>s messages sur<strong>la</strong> p<strong>la</strong>nification familiale (respectivement 28 % et 21 %). Les proportions <strong>de</strong> femmes et d’hommes quiont vu <strong>de</strong>s messages à <strong>la</strong> télévision sont plus faibles (respectivement 11 % et 7 %) ; par contre,seulement 4 % <strong>de</strong>s femmes et 3 % <strong>de</strong>s hommes ont lu dans <strong>la</strong> presse <strong>de</strong>s messages sur <strong>la</strong> p<strong>la</strong>nificationfamiliale.En fonction <strong>de</strong> l’âge, on note <strong>de</strong>s proportions élevées d’adolescents <strong>de</strong> 15-19 ans qui n’ont étéexposées à aucun média (75 % <strong>de</strong>s jeunes femmes et 84 % <strong>de</strong>s jeunes hommes). Les résultats selon lemilieu <strong>de</strong> rési<strong>de</strong>nce montrent que c’est en milieu rural que les proportions <strong>de</strong> femmes et d’hommesqui n’ont été atteints par aucun média sont les plus élevées (respectivement, 75 % et 81 % en ruralcontre 45 % et 58 % en milieu urbain). Il faut noter que, dans <strong>la</strong> capitale, c’est par le biais <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>télévision que les femmes et les hommes ont été le plus fréquemment touchés par les messages sur <strong>la</strong>contraception (respectivement 61 % et 44 %). En outre, on note <strong>de</strong>s écarts importants entre lesrégions : dans <strong>la</strong> région d’Androy, 95 % <strong>de</strong>s femmes et 91 % <strong>de</strong>s hommes n’ont été atteints par aucunmessage sur <strong>la</strong> p<strong>la</strong>nification familiale contre, respectivement, 37 % et 52 % dans celle d’Ana<strong>la</strong>manga.Dans cette région, 15 % <strong>de</strong>s femmes et 12 % <strong>de</strong>s hommes ont lu dans un journal ou un magazine unmessage se référant à <strong>la</strong> p<strong>la</strong>nification familiale.P<strong>la</strong>nification Familiale | 91
