WHICH SHE IS THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR.

Est-ce un nouveau challenge ?
Oui ! Mais vous savez, ma vie a été faite de challenges. Je pars toujours du principe que rien
n'est jamais acquis.
La programmation fait preuve d'un bel éclectisme.
Le terme est peut-être un peu fort, mais j'ai envie de dire que ce festival de danse n'est pas
confiscatoire. Il regroupe des aventures singulières qui peuvent surprendre et enrichir le
spectateur. Tous ceux qui vont se produire ici revendiquent leurs spécificités.
Peut-on parler d'un temps fort ?
Pas vraiment, parce que ce festival est placé sous le signe de l'ouverture. Je maintiens que,
dans la mesure du possible, il faut voir deux ou trois spectacles pour ne pas réduire la danse
en général et le Festival de Danse de Cannes en particulier à un style unique.
Votre cœur va-t-il battre un peu plus fort lorsque l'École de Danse de l'Opéra de Paris
présentera "Aunis" et "Soir de fête" ?
Je crois qu'il va battre très fort pendant toute la durée du festival. J'éprouve une réelle
admiration pour Elisabeth Platel, qui dirige l'école de danse de l'Opéra de Paris et a su la
faire évoluer. Donc en regardant ces jeunes danseurs, je ne ressentirai pas un pincement au
cœur mais plutôt un élan vers eux.

OPENNESS
Is it a new challenge for
you?
Yes! But you know, my
life has been made of
challenges. I never take
anything for granted.
The program proves to be
beautifully eclectic.
The word might be a bit
strong, but I want to say
that this Festival of Dance is
not confiscatory. It gathers
special adventures, which
might come as a surprise
and enrich the audience.
All the artists performing
here are highlighting their
specific values.
Can we say there will be a
key moment?
Not really, because this
festival is based on a spirit
of openness. I insist, that if
it is possible, the audience
should see two or three
shows, for them not to
diminish ballet in general
and the Cannes Festival of
Dance in particular to only
one style.
Will your heart beat a
little faster when the
Academy of the Paris
Opera Ballet will perform
“Aunis” and “Soir de
fête”?
I think my heart will be
beating fast during the
entire festival. I truly
admire Elisabeth Platel,
who manages the Academy
of the Paris Opera Ballet
and who achieved to make
it grow. So when I will look
at those young dancers, I
won’t feel sad but rather
excited for them.
