Commission Report on Nunavik Youth in 2007.
Ungaluk has renewed funding for local agents in Inukjuak
and Salluit. A job posting went up for a new local core agent
for Salluit because theirs had resigned. A funding request for
Kuujjuaraapik was also approved. The Regional Partnership
Committee coordinator helped them to hire a local core agent,
so work could get underway to develop a family centre pilot
project. Through networking, a group of people became willing
to assist in the development of this project.
A request for research was developed to submit to various
funding agencies. This type of research can help validate this
project to convince governments to give funding. Avenir D’Enfant
is also involved in looking for funding to develop programs.
Someone from the McGill Telehealth Program will also be involved
in identifying funds for development of services, while Dr. Johanne
Morel will continue to work with the Dr. Julien’s Family Centres.
A part-time person has been retained to act as a consultant for
the Regional Partnership Committee to help at coordinating
this work. The consultant has experience as a director in one of
the Dr. Julien’s Family Centres and comes with experience and
knowledge of the network.
Visits to Kuujjuaraapik by the coordinator and others have
continued and meetings with the municipal authorities have
been held. The Municipality of Kuujjuaraapik has identified two
potential buildings that could be used as centres. Their landholding
corporation has also expressed interest by letting us know
that there are two other buildings that could also be considered.
The working group on justice in Nunavik submitted a consultation
document, Reconstructing Social Regulation in Inuit
Communities: A New Field for Action and Public Policy, to the
Regional Partnership Committee in August of 2011. A steering

du Nunavik publié par la Commission des droits de la personne
et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec en 2007.
Ungaluk a renouvelé le financement accordé pour l’embauche
d’agents locaux à Inukjuak et Salluit. Une offre d’emploi a été
publiée pour le poste de Salluit à la suite de la démission de leur
agent. Une demande de financement provenant de Kuujjuaraapik
a été approuvée. La coordinatrice du Comité de partenariat
régional a soutenu la communauté lors de l’embauche de leur
agent local afin qu’un projet pilote de centre pour la famille
puisse démarrer dès que possible. Des contacts ont été établis
avec un groupe de personnes disposées à appuyer la mise sur
pied de ce projet.
Un projet de recherche a été élaboré et présenté à différents
organismes de financement, car il est souvent plus facile d’obtenir
du financement de la part des gouvernements en s’appuyant sur
de solides données de recherche. L’organisme Avenir d’enfant
participe également à la recherche de financement destiné à de
nouveaux projets. Le Programme de télésanté de l’Université
McGill collabore aussi à la recherche de fonds pour le développement
des services, alors que la Dre Johanne Morel poursuit le
travail entrepris en collaboration avec les Centres de la famille
du Dr Julien. Une personne a été embauchée à temps partiel
par le Comité de partenariat régional pour coordonner tout ce
travail. Cette personne possède de l’expérience administratrive
dans un centre de la famille du Dr Julien et une bonne connaissance
du réseau.
La coordonnatrice s’est rendue à Kuujjuaraapik notamment
pour rencontrer la municipalité et la corporation foncière qui ont
identifié des bâtiments pouvant convenir au projet.
