Administration of Justice in Nunavik
There now are 10 Nunavik justice committees: Kuujjuaraapik,
Inukjuak, Puvirnituq, Salluit, Kangiqsujuaq, Quaqtaq, Kangirsuk,
Aupaluk, Kuujjuaq, and Kangiqsualujjuaq. The members of the
Aupaluk, Puvirnituq and Inukjuak Committees are everlastingly
committed, while the other committees are at various stages of
development.
With the support of the Nunavik Justice Officer, Eve-Marie
Préfontaine, and the Taïga Vision consultant, Lyne St-Louis, four
cases of Gladue reports were made between March and May
2012, a first credited to our own Community Justice Initiative.
The term Gladue comes from a 1999 case before the Supreme
Court of Canada whereby Jamie Gladue, an Aboriginal woman,

Le Nunavik compte maintenant dix comités de justice :

Quaqtaq, Kangirsuk, Aupaluk, Kuujjuaq et Kangiqsualujjuaq.
Les membres des comités d’Aupaluk, Inukjuak et Puvirnituq
sont pleinement fonctionnels, tandis que les autres comités se
trouvent à divers stades de développement.
Avec le soutien de l’agente de la justice au Nunavik, Ève-
Marie Préfontaine, et de la consultante de Vision Taïga, Lyne
St-Louis, quatre rapports Gladue ont été présentés entre mars
et mai 2012, une première dans le cadre de notre initiative de
justice communautaire.
