Kangirsuk, Quaqtaq, and Umiujaq, and the following communities
have new youth committees: Kangiqsualujjuaq, Kuujjuaq, and
Tasiujaq, Kangiqsujuaq. Inukjuak still has the same committee.
The president has accepted to take on the challenges and
circumstances that her term provided, although she was not
originally aware of the depths of its struggles. We are optimistic
that the Saputiit Youth Association will be functioning again and,
thanks to the funds from Makivik (Sanarrutik), Saputiit will regain
its functions. The Saputiit website is being updated, which will be
used as a tool to get information flowing within the Association
and the youth committees, board members and communities
as a whole. With the potential that Saputiit Youth Association
has, its influence in the region and the opportunities that we
have, we look forward to getting it running again. However, it
will be important to modify in the areas that do not allow us to
gain momentum, as we should. Considering the mandate and
with our youth in Nunavik, it has great potential to develop in
many different levels.
Malgré ces nombreux défis, nous avons de bonnes nouvelles
à partager. Certains comités locaux ont été très actifs.
De nouveaux conseils ont été élus dans les communautés de
Kangirsuk, Quaqtaq et Umiujaq, alors que les conseils élus de
Kangiqsualujjuaq, Kuujjuaq, Tasiujaq, Kangiqsujuaq et Inukjuak
ont poursuivi leur travail.
La présidente a accepté de relever les nombreux défis, même
si à l’origine elle n’en connaissait pas toute l’ampleur. Nous entrevoyons
l’avenir avec optimisme, et grâce au financement versé
par Makivik par l’entremise de Sanarrutik, Saputiit sera bientôt
en mesure de reprendre l’ensemble de ses activités. Le site Web
de Saputiit, qui est en cours de mise à jour, permettra de diffuser
de l’information au sein de l’Association, des comités de jeunes
et des communautés en général.
L’Association des jeunes Saputiit est en mesure d’influencer
les décisions prises dans la région, et nous sommes anxieux
d’atteindre notre plein potentiel. Nous devons cependant apporter
les correctifs nécessaires afin d’atteindre ce potentiel, ce qui
ne devrait tarder compte tenu du dynamisme des jeunes du
Nunavik dans de nombreux domaines.
