(1953:412). Sphaerococcus canaliculars Kutzing, <strong>the</strong> intended<br />

basionym <strong>of</strong> Gracilaria canaliculata, is a later homonym<br />

<strong>of</strong> 5. canaliculars C. Agardh (1822a:260) and hence<br />

not priorable. Gracilaria canaliculata Sonder is treated as a<br />

nomen novum in accordance with Article 72, Note 1, <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> ICBN.<br />
