NOTE.—The conspecificity of Laurencia patentiramea and
L. paniculata was proposed by Ardissone (1883:329). As a
species, L. patentiramea dates from 1843, as Chondria patentiramea
(Montagne) Kutzing (1843b:437), while L. paniculata
dates from 1852. Moreover, L. paniculata (C. Agardh)
J. Agardh is a later homonym of L. paniculata Kutzing
(1849:855).
