Exports up, imports down from January through May 2010 helped register a €127
million trade surplus
Tra gennaio e maggio 2010, grazie alle buone esportazioni e alla riduzione
delle importazioni, la bilancia commerciale ha registrato un +127 milioni di euro
The country’s balance of trade in fruit and citrus
commodities through the first five months of this
year showed a€127 million surplus (table 1). The
upswing, which is notably above last year’s figure but
well below the €250 million surplus recorded in 2008,
is largely attributable to strong export and weak
import demand. Export volumes reached a million
metric tons, up a solid 19% on the year, whereas
import volumes fell 17%. Export receipts were up 9%
while import bills dropped 10%. The price trend arrow
pointed downwards for exports, the average falling
8% on the year, whereas the average trend for
imports was up 8%.

agrumi si è attestato a 127 milioni di euro, in forte
ripresa rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2009, ma in
flessione rispetto ai 250 milioni dei primi cinque
mesi del 2008. Il miglioramento del saldo è riconducibile
sia alla buona performance delle esportazioni,
sia alla riduzione delle importazioni. Le spedizioni
hanno superato il milione di tonnellate, in forte
aumento su base annua (+19%), mentre gli arrivi si
sono ridotti del 17%. Gli introiti derivanti dalle
esportazioni sono cresciuti del 9%, mentre gli
esborsi relativi alle importazioni si sono ridotti del
