COMPANY PROFILE (on page 104)
PORT ROSE GROUP
A YEAR OF BIG PLANS
More dynamic than ever, this Neapolitan company is gearing
up to celebrate it’s twenty-fifth anniversary with a comprehensive
makeover and avery interesting new project
The protagonists of this story are a married couple from
Gragnano, near Naples: Marina and Sebastiano Abagnale.
Thanks to the tenacity and passion for beachwear they were
able to give rise to the Port Rose Group, which since 1993 has
been turning out beachwear catering to both mature women
as well as young ones with sophisticated tastes, mothers and
daughters sharing an appreciation of beautiful garments,
items designed to showcase the wearer’s figure.
As the years rolled by that which had come into being as a
small craft-based workshop, grew into one of the sectors most
well-establish manufacturing facilities, specializing in a winning
combination of excellent fit and high fashion content at
a competitive price. As a matter of fact, the design division,
composed of around ten skilled professionals, designs and
analyzes every model in detail in order to guarantee impeccable
fit along with 100% Italian flair.
With the summer of 2018 the company has decided to implement
a major makeover. The considerable experience in the
field of the Abagnale couple has thus been bolstered by the
professional expertise of designer, Betti Proietti, vaunting lots
of experience in the art of designing beachwear collections,
have worked for a number of prestigious firms, including some
of the most important companies in the sector.
The amazing synergy between the designer and the owners
has been perfect, enabling the company to move ahead on an
ambitious project, an initiative made possible thanks to high
levels of professionalism and dynamic flexibility and a keen
eye for change in a market distinguished by constant evolution.
The principal new development has to do with the Marina
Abagnale collection, a project the company has decided
to throw itself into with enthusiasm. As a matter of fact, a
painstaking analysis of the market has lead to a much greater
understanding of the new retail needs as well as those of
the shopping public. This has enable the firm to put together
a collection capable of satisfying the increasingly pressing
request for fashionable beachwear designed for real women,
women in all the size categories and age groups, items that
crucially boast a competitive price. “Over the years the market
has become more selective. The store owners are tending
to reduce the number of suppliers and keep less merchandise
in the store,” explained Sebastiano Abagnale. “For the upperend
stores it is no longer enough to carry a successful brand;
they are seeking competitiveness and greater versatility when
it comes to the selection. This enables them to have a an adequate
mark-up, a decent margin pf profit without making
concessions in the key area of quality.”
These observations and resulting calculations gave rise to
Marina Abagnale, a collection of swimwear and smart beachwear
catering to all women with concrete needs in terms of
fit, but not at the expense of foregoing the pleasure of fashionable
beachwear.
The woman catered to by the Marina Abagnale collection has
a measured sense of style; she is not showy, preferring to focus
on the telltale details of quality. “I wasn’t trying to dress a model,
but rather real women who possess a naturally feminine
elegance, innate taste and a sense of fashion as liberation rather
than confrontation,” explained Betti Proietti, the brand’s
designer. “The goal was to imbue even the larger sizes with a
sense of lightness. The seasonal chromatic palette features colors
that are feminine and bright, with delicate pastel nuances,
blue and white, accompanied by brushstrokes of green and
black. The prints are the major selling point of the collection,
custom selected and interpreted in keeping with the unique
Showroom in Gragnano (NA).
