Junior Development Event - Make a difference to our kids The Kleinzee Angling club who will be assisted by the Lions Club of Springbok and the Northern Cape Department of Environment and Conservation will be hosted their first Junior Development Event on 12-15 December 2011. This is a professionally organized, environmental friendly event, which your company will be proud of to be associated with. We therefore would like to invite you and/or your company to become part of the Junior Development event by becoming one of our sponsors of the event. The Junior Development event not only aims to develop angling as a sport amongst the youth in Namaqualand but will also include basic survival and camping skill as well as river awareness and water safety skills. A draft program (App. A) is attached for you info and any suggestions to improve on the program will be appreciated. There is no doubt that angling can make a difference to our kids. Important factors to a kid‘s growth are provided by angling e.g. family time, patients, nature knowledge, skills, etc. This event will also provide the opportunity for under privilege kids that do not have the means to go on holiday to spend some time away from home in an educational climate. This will be the first event of this kind and we aim to: a) Involve 40 children from 10 different schools as a trial and we hope to make this an annual event on our calendar. b) 10 Schools will be contacted to enter teams of 4 children. c) We also plan to collect unused fishing gear to distribute to needy kids. Anglers will be requested to donate their old or unused fishing rods, reels, etc to the "Junior Development Event". This equipment will then be distributed between the needy junior anglers. d) We are going to have experienced anglers and other professionals assisting and teaching the juniors with regard to: Camping and basic survival skills, Boat handling and water safety River Health and awareness Fresh water angling skills We now would like to invite you and/or your company to become part of the Junior Development event by becoming one of our sponsors of the event and in turn you or your company will receive: a) Exposure on the Club website and local press. b) Brand advertising on the day of the event. c) Your name will be mentioned at the start of the event. d) Invitation to the annual chairman‘s dinner event to be held later the year at the Kleinzee Angling Club. e) Advertisement in the sponsor's power point presentation that runs at the Kleinzee Angling Club during other events. WEST COAST ROCK LOBSTER (WCRL) SEASON ANNOUNCED The season for 2011 will open on the 18 15 th of November 2011 and close on the 15 th of January 2012. Thereafter, the season will open again from the 6 th of April 2012 and end on the 9 th of April 2012. Permits are obtainable from the Post Office. Permits will only be issued to persons above the age of 12 years. Alexanderbaai Kleuterskool Konsert Op 30 November 2011 het Japsnoetjie Kleuterskool van Alexanderbaai hulle jaarlikse prysuitdeling seremonie asook konsert gehad. Die geleentheid is in die N‘Orsmond saal aangebied en toeskouers het hulle gate geniet met die unieke en komiese vertolking van die Drie Varkies en ‗n loslit wolf. Die tema is deur Juffrou Marda Theron aangepas en ‗n moderne aanslag gegee met liedjies van bekende kunstenaars wat aangepas was vir die tema. So bv is Loslappie verander na Losvarkie en ‗n Hoender wat ‗n eier nie kan lê, se eier smaak nie lekker nie! Die verrigtinge is afgesluit met die uitdeel van sertifikate aan al die ―studente‖ waarna Kersvader ‗n verrassings besoek afgelê het en aan elke leerdertjie ‗n geskenkie uitgedeel het. Die ouers en gemeenskap het almal gehelp om van die aand ‗n reuse sukses te maak. Sommige het gehelp met die dekor en kostuums terwyl ander die snoepie beman het en heerlike eetgoed verkoop het, onder andere heerlik boerewors rolletjies wat deur die pappas gebraai was. Voorwaar ‗ n uiters geslaagde spanpoging onder leiding van die drie uiters bekwame personeellede van Japsnoetjie Kleuterskool by name Me Marda Theron, Me Annamarie Coetzee en Me Anna Moos. Die drie dames se liefde en passie vir die kinders en hulle belangrike opvoedingstaak is duidelik sigbaar in die stralende gesiggies en die baie drukkies wat die juffrouens kry. Strydenburg victory The by-election in Strydenburg has shown that under the right leadership, people from diverse backgrounds and political affiliation can work together and, within little more than a month and with a very small budget, do what so many thought impossible, beat the ANC. This is a great victory for the people of Strydenburg. It is also a significant victory for the province and the country. This by-election is evidence that our democracy is maturing. It is not only one in form but one in substance where values, policies and ultimately service delivery determines the vote and not emotion, ideology and what is often revered to in literature as the cult of mediocrity. It is the end of the ANC in Strydenburg and the Northern Cape. They have finally lost the people of Strydenburg and indeed the province and slowly but surely the people of South Africa. It is true that it is the organisation that deserves credit for liberating the country to such an effect that everyone can vote. But is also the organisation that had 17 years to prove themselves and failed. Freedom entails more than a vote. It necessitates service delivery, opportunity, responsibility and accountability by government. It was indeed a pathetic and sorry state to see how the so called ―revolutionaries‖ abuse state funds to buy votes and force their own agenda on people who are so vulnerable in many ways. It was like looking at a bunch of hyenas...spending millions of taxpayers‘ money on events right before the election dishing out take aways and cheap furnisher and then leaving the rubbish right there for the kids to play in while they drive away in their fancy cars, not to be seen until the next election. The wonderful thing about Strydenburg is that this system has now been turned around by means of voting and not violence. The people of Strydenburg have shown that people can work together and win but more than that, the victory is not only about power but about serving the people. The town that has been run into the ground by the Jenkins administration will now become the example and model for the Northern Cape and the election that will be forever referred to in history books. I feel honoured to have been part of it. Danny Jonas is a great leader, who has the ability to make people believe again in the vision of Nelson Mandela, that we can all live together in a prosperous society and that domination should be fought against, whether it is white or black. The unsung heroes of this election are, however, the volunteers who worked night and day without pay and often without food to stand up for what is right and set a new tone for policies in Strydenburg, the Northern Cape and the country in general. LEERDERS VERKEN SKILPAD NATUURPARK Isaac Cloete Onlangs het 28 leerders van Dr. Izak Primêre skool, in Bergsig, 19 naby Springbok, die formele klaskameropset verruil vir die skoon buitelug en „n geleentheid om die ongerepte natuurlewe te verken. Die graad sewe leerders was baie in hul noppies toe hulle moes verneem, dat ‗n opvoedkundige uitstappie na die Kamiesberg-gebied vir hulle gereël was.Dit sluit aan by die erfenis-tema en die feit dat ons as Suid-Afrikaners ons erfenisgebiede moet bewaar. Die skool se eko-komitee was verantwoordeliks vir die reëlings en twee opvoeders, mnre. Davy Links en Charles Aweries het die leerders vergesel na die Namakwa Nasionale Park, net buitekant Kamieskroon. Volgens die skool was dit vir baie van die leerders die eerste keer dat hulle hierdie natuurpark gesien het en dit het die geleentheid spesiaal gemaak.Veral die fauna, soos die springbokkies het baie leerders se harte gesteel. Die uitstappie het ook aktiwiteite ingesluit, wat gehandel het oor medisinale plante(flora) en die belangrikheid van natuurbewaring asook die park self. Die personeel van Dr. Izak Primêre skool, het hulle dank uitgespreek teenoor mnr.Glen Hansen(sport,kuns en kultuur:biblioteke) wat die uitstappie moontlik gemaak het. ―Die kinders het hulle verskriklik geniet en met baie meer kennis en waardering vir die natuur teruggekeer,‖ lui die skool se verklaring. ☻Die park is beroemd vir sy veldblomme, vetplante en 3 500 spesies. Ook word aardvarke, klipspringers,bobbejane, steenbokkies,ystervarke en luiperds hier aangetref. Die gedeelte, beter bekend as die Skilpad Ruskamp, is die tuiste van die wêreld se kleinste skilpadjie, die Namakwa Gespikkelde Padloper. Die park bied opvoedkundige toere aan vir die publiek.
