metavolcanic rocks (talc schist, serpentinite, tremolite-serpentine-talc schist) and
itabirite-type banded iron formation in the unity of slate and phyllite are noteworthy.
Only a small portion of Paranaguá Terrrane occurs in Eldorado Paulista Sheet, being
represented by milonitic banded gneiss from São Francisco do Sul Complex (ca. 2150-
2100 Ma).
The four tectonic terranes were intruded by ediacaran granitic bodies of distinct origin.
The Apiaí Terrane is dominated by I-type high-K calc-alcaline granite bodies, as the
Agudos Grandes Granite. The Curitiba Terrane show granitic batholiths and stocks of
varied origin and shape, including stocks of biotite-muscovite leucogranite e turmaline
granite (S-type), stocks of I-type high-K calc-alcaline granite, generally gneissic, as the
Alto Jacupiranguinha Granite, and poorly studied batholiths as the Itapeúna Intrusive
Suite. Within the Luís Alves Terrane occur yet poorly studied synorogenic granitic
plutons (Rio Cachorro Intrusive Suite), and type-A alkaline granite plutons (Alto Turvo
Granite, Graciosa Province). The Rio Guaraú and Mandira granites, both A-type alkaline
granites from the Graciosa Province, intruded more than one tectonic terrane, being
marks of their orogenic collage. The Rio Guaraú Granite intruded the Luís Alves and the
Curitiba terranes, while the Mandira Granite intruded the Curitiba and the Paranaguá
terranes.
The main mineral resources of the Eldorado Paulista Sheet include: (i) phosphate for
agricultural inputs (Jacupiranga Intrusive Suite); (ii) carbonatite used in the cement
industry (Jacupiranga Intrusive Suite); (iii) hydrothermal Au mineralizations in quartz
veins (Votuverava Group, primarily in the Piririca Formation); (iv) Au occurrences and
Fe deposit related with itabirite-type banded iron formation (Rio das Minas Formation);
(v) talc deposits and occurrences associated with metaultramafic rocks (Barra do Azeite
Banded Gneiss); (vi) limestone used for soil correctives and cement industry (Turvo-
Cajati Formation and Serra das Andorinhas Sequence); (vii) granite and quartzite used as
onamental stone (Rio Guaraú Granite and Serra das Andorinhas Sequence, respectively)
(viii) occurrences of cassiterite, columbite and tantalite (Rio Guaraú Granite).
The area still has activity of speleological ecotourism (Caverna do Diabo State Park),
related to the Tapagem Marble.
