Funding PartnersDesign of the Rede Voluntário project (www.rededevoluntarios.com.br) by youngparticipants from the Garagem Digital in São Gonçalo do Amarante (CE) at theWaldemar Alcântara state school. The project makes the computers and space of theGaragem Digital available for basic courses and offers free internet access for thestudents, their parents and other member of the school and local communities.Construction of the website for the non-governmental organization “Som dasCarnaubeiras” (www.somdascarnaubeiras.org.br) by the young participants of theproject created by the Garagem Digital in Limoeiro do Norte (CE).Advanced information technology courses developed and given voluntarily bymonitors from the Garagem Digital in Limoeiro do Norte for educators from the localstate schools.Seminar: “The new tendencies for Tourism and their Technologies” promoted by theGaragem Digital in Beberibe (CE) aimed at the community, students and ex-studentsof the project.Seminar: “Free Software”, ministered by Flávio Vieira, coordinator of the InformationTechnology Center at the University of Fortaleza, promoted by the Garagem Digital inBeberibe (CE).Seminar: “Digital Inclusion and Local Development”, promoted by the GaragemDigital in Limoeiro do Norte (CE).“II Technological Fair for Local Integrated and Sustainable Local Development – Youthand Entrepreneurship”, promoted by the Padre José Bello dos Santos AdolescentProfessional Training Center (CPA), in São Mateus (SP), where one of the ‘Garages’is installed.“I FISART – Social Inclusion, Art and Technology Fair” (www.fisart.centec.org.br).Promoted by the Garagem Digital in Beberibe (CE), the fair saw the participation ofthe local community and schools. The public present had the opportunity to find outabout technological advances and their impacts on society. During the fair the“Christmas without Hunger” campaign was also carried out and raised 397kg of foodproducts for distribution among the poorest local communities.Also in <strong>2006</strong>, the Garagem Digital Program started the dissemination of its projects, withthe support of the State Government of Ceará and the Centec Institute.Numbers for the Garagem Digital Program150 youngsters attended in the training Module739 community members attended the basic IT courses4,236 free community accessesThe Programa Petrobras Jovem Aprendiz (Petrobras Young Apprentice Program),an initiative launched in <strong>2006</strong> aimed at developing an educational program forapprentices of the Petrobras System, directed at young people in situations of social andpersonal vulnerability.Besides the <strong>Abrinq</strong> Foundation, in order to carry out the program, Petrobras and Transpetroestablished a covenant with the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow daFonseca - Ceft/RJ (Celso Suckow da Fonseca Federal Center for Technological Education– Ceft/RJ), the <strong>Fundação</strong> de Apoio ao Cefet - Pró-Cefet (Cefet Support Foundation –Pro-Cefet), the Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial - Senai (National Serviceof Industrial Apprenticeship) ) and the Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial- Senac (National Service of Commercial Apprenticeship).In <strong>2006</strong>, this program benefited 2,555 youths, who were taken on as apprentices at59 Petrobras units throughout Brazil.Within this program, the <strong>Abrinq</strong> Foundation is responsible for training employeesof the company as guidance counselors, supporting the qualification of their actionswith the youngsters and strengthening the socially responsible actions of the company.The social organizations involved for the basic training and monitoring of the youngsterspresent their projects for analysis by the <strong>Abrinq</strong> Foundation to see that they are in keepingwith the assumptions of the program.The youngsters are then monitored by the organizations and by the Petrobras staff trainedin matters relating to youth protagonism and entrepreneurship. In <strong>2006</strong>, 264 Petrobras staffmembers and 192 educators and administrators from partner NGOs were trained.Numbers for the Petrobras Jovem Aprendiz Program2,555 youths hired as apprentices at 59 Petrobras units264 Petrobras staff members trained192 educators and administrators from NGOs trainedThe Mudando a História project, sponsored by Nokia and the International YouthFoundation (IYF), trains young people to act as reading mediators for children and tomultiply this knowledge among other youngsters in the metropolitan region of São Pauloand in Manaus (AM). The young people trained as multipliers and mediators are putforward by social organizations, who are also attributed with lending support to youngpeople for performing the reading mediation in crèches, state schools, social organizationsand libraries within their communities.In <strong>2006</strong>, 19 professionals were trained from the partner organizations and 98 multipliersand 972 reading mediators were trained, bringing benefit to 10,883 children.In the aim of gaining scale and reach, a number of central organizations wereidentified. These organizations represent partners that assume the responsibilityfor representing the project in their local regions, for articulating new partnershipsand for promoting the dissemination of the program’s experiences.Currently, the program includes the support of central organizations in São Paulo (ObraSocial São Mateus, Colégio Equipe, Projeto Anchieta and Aldeia do Futuro), in Moji Mirim(Instituto de Incentivo à Criança e ao Adolescente de Moji Mirim/Projeto ICA) and inManaus (Secretaria Municipal dos Direitos Humanos).In <strong>2006</strong>, an assessment of the results of the project for 2004 to <strong>2006</strong> was carried out byoutside consultants, who identified the following results:63
