WORK AT IASOS,THE 2010 CAMPAIGNFede BERTI*1The Iasos campaign of the Italian Archaeological Mission began on 13August and concluded on 13 October 2010.The following participated: Simonetta Angiolillo, Chiara Pilo andMarco Giuman (University of Cagliari, Department of Archaeology),Silvia R. Amicone, Daniela Baldoni, Simona Contardi, Valentina Coppola,Francesca Curti, Flavia Giberti, Giulia Lodi, Sara Bini, all archaeologists,and Elisa Garberoglio, Maurizia Manara, Nicolò Masturzo, Diego Peirano,and Manuela Vittori, architects. The large group of advanced students inMonument Restoration and students from the Sapienza University of Rome(Giulia Castaldi, Alessandro Cioffi, Saverio Di Rollo, Alessandra Ferri,Marta Guercio, Figen Kιvιlcιm, Alessio La Paglia, Annamaria Nizi, FlaviaMorelli, Giampiero Rellini Lerz, and Giulia Santucci) was led by AlessandroViscogliosi and Guglielmo Villa, with technical support (for conservation andrestoration of frescoed surfaces) from Attilia Todeschini.From the University of Perugia, Department of Ancient History, cameGianfranco Maddoli, Massimo Nafissi, Roberta Fabiani (temporarily on afellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung), and Elisa Maurizi.The excavation photographer was Maurizio Molinari; the draughtsman wasAnna Maria Monaco; and the restorers were Michela Bartolotti and DevrimBekret.Before discussing the season’s excavation, restoration, and study, I wishto recall here to the fiftieth anniversary of the Mission (1960–2010), celebratedon the first of the two days of the annual Karia meeting, Karialılar veMylasa 3, held in Milas on 27 and 28 August (the day we had the pleasure ofwelcoming the Consul in Izmir Dr. Igor Di Bernardini and which concluded*Fede BERTI, fede.berti@alice.it www.associazioneiasosdicaria.org221
