Naš prispevek je bil predstavljen v obliki plakata v okviru rednesekcije “Structural engineering: New structures and systems”.AbstractIn the paper the N2 method is applied for analysis of base isolatedfour-storey RC frame building. Two different sets of base isolationdevices were investigated: a simple rubber (RB) and a similar leadrubber bearing (LRB) base isolation system. For each system aSoft, Normal and Hard rubber stiffness and three different dampingvalues were used. The target base displacement was determined asan intersection of the capacity curve of SDOF system with rigidbehavior of the superstructure and demand spectrum curve forselected damping of isolators. In the following step the pushoveranalysis of the whole isolated structure was performed up to thetarget base displacement. The results are presented in terms of baseand top displacements and ductility factors for those base isolationsystems which were not able to protect the superstructure. It hasbeen shown in the paper that N2 method might be a valuable toolfor design, analysis and verification of behavior of base isolatedstructures.14th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering. They enable therevival of the half-forgotten values of living outside a compactsettlement, where all natural resources are respected and carefullymanaged. The proposals exploit already existing structures, whichI believe is an advantage in terms of social acceptability, as thestructures can already be seen. More energy and means will haveto be invested in the renovation of the “service” infrastructure(e.g. access routes, pathways), satisfying residential standards, ownership, determination of tax burdens, as well as overcomingcultural and linguistic hurdles between the participants.Revitalisation proposals emphasise encouraging the developmentof social capital. Support from the environment, enabled byindividuals or organised groups, is designated as social capital. In spatial management, the making of plans and execution ofparticular implementation acts, the cooperation of the localpopulation is of crucial significance. The more they are involvedin the processes, the more they are familiar with the issues, andconsequently they attempt to improve the outcomes. We shouldnot overlook the connection between human and social capital:human capital ensures a fundamental number of individuals withparticular goals and knowledge, whilst social capital means thecritical mass needed to make the most of the necessary humancapital.ZUPANČIČ, Domen. WellsKandija, island of Krk, Croatia represents the simplest system ofcollecting water from the well-hole, accessing by the stone stairs.Permeable roof of the well, instead of 'impermeable' roof (normallyin use): wonderful example of 'self-collecting roof', where the roofhelps water to fill up the cistern. It can be find on the island of Krk,Croatia.Chain, equipped with cups, collecting water and hoisting it,can be used where the well is not too deep, and energy is obtained(man, animal, wind). Water retain-well can be used where terrainis sloping, and a series of wells are needed. Near Ademuz inValenciana (enclave unit), there are a series of wells and water isfilling them one by one. When one is filled in, water streams toanother - fully automatic system. The same system can be seenin Montenegro, where it is used for collecting fertile soil, rinsingby running water from the hills. Irrigation system on Malta isvery sophisticating system of vertical shafts, inspecting horizontalcaves and underground canals for feeding the stone reservoirs (forirrigation of vineyards). Rain collecting water reservoirs are in usemostly in Central and South Europe, where rain water is the onlysupply. Water, collected from the roofs, are stored in undergroundreservoirs. Well as measure instrument is known in ancient Egypt, where the taxes had been fixed by niveau of the river Nile. Sacredwell, just for instance Sant'Anastasia in Sardara, Sardegna, is thetypical example of using mans intelligence, miracle, with the endgoal - collecting the money from less-minded people - for powerand authority. Conclusions: water between nature and man can beunderstood as unended circle in technical sense, but the ways ofusing it is definitely different, even amusing.Na kongresu me je gospod Richard Love, predsednik DSWA,Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain povabil nanaslednji kongres v Cumbrio 2o1o.98
