Erlebnis-Mix aus Weihnachtsmarkt mit
Bühnenprogramm, bunten Karussells und Kinderakti-
onen und Shopping. Wer jetzt immer
noch nicht in winterlicher Stimmung
ist, der geht aufs Eis zum Schlittschuhlaufen.
Im legendären Eisstadion
an der Brehmstraße kommt
jeder auf seine Kosten. Als Belohnung
für so viel sportliche
Aktivität gibt’s danach Glühwein
oder Punsch. Am Abend
feiert man (zu jeder Jahreszeit)
mit Düsseldorfer Alt in
der Altstadt,
All through the year the shopping mile „Kö“,
celebrated fashion and world renowned
cultural institutions and museums await you in
Düsseldorf. During Advent season Düsseldorf
presents itself as a romantic wonderland lit by
thousands of lights and with 250 Christmassy
decorated shacks and a fascinating hustle all
around the market place. The whole city is full
of atmosphere as Christmas is coming closer.
Over the colder period of the year Düsseldorf
still has a lot to offer – a mixture of events
around the Christmas market including an extensive
stage program, colorful caroussels,
special happenings for kids, and shopping. Those
who don‘t get into a winterly mood by all that
have to try the ice skating rink. The legendary
ice stadium at Brehmstraße has everybody get
his money‘s worth. Afterwards, so much sportive
achievement is rewarded with mulled wine
or glogg. When the evening comes people start
partying (no matter what season) with alt beer
in Düsseldorf‘s Old Town which is called „the
world‘s longest bar“ thanks to its numerous
pubs and taverns.

Kostüme, Kamellen, Konfetti und „Kurze“
– ohne diese Begriffe wäre der Düsseldorfer
Karneval nicht das, was er heute
ist. Neben Köln und Maibildet Düsseldorf
eine der drei Hochburgen des rheinischen
Karnevals. Nicht ohne Grund „mutieren“
die Düsseldorfer in ihrer Fünften Jahreszeit
zu richtigen Party-Profis. Schon
am 11.11. um 11:11 Uhr wird die Saison
feierlich eröffnet. Bis Mitte Februar herrscht
dann ein buntes Treiben mit Sitzungen, Empfängen
und Kostümbällen. An Weiberfastnacht
(19.2.) kommen spätestens die letzten Narren
aus ihren Häusern. Von da an wird bis Aschermittwoch
(25.2.) an allen Ecken der Stadt gefeiert,
getanzt und getrunken. Die feierlichen
Straßenumzüge bilden dabei den Höhepunkt.
Dieses großartige Spektakel inmitten jubelnder
Karnevalisten sollte jeder einmal miterlebt haben,
um sagen zu können, er habe das wahre
Düsseldorf kennengelernt. Helau!

Costumes, caramel candy, confetti and
shots - carnival in Düsseldorf wouldn‘t be
the what it is today without all these fine things.
Next to Mainz and Cologne Düsseldorf is one of
three strongholds of Carnival along the Rhine.
Its inhabitants turn into real party animals when
the „Fifth Season“ (as they call it) comes along.
That period begins on November 11 at 11:11
o‘clock and lasts until the middle of February. It
is filled to the brim with a crazy hustle involving
sessions, receptions and costume balls. On
Women‘s Carnival Day (February 19) even the
last carnival revellers come out of their houses
to party a whole week including dancing and
drinking until Ash Wednesday on February 25.
The festivities culminate in a major street parade
through the whole city. It‘s a tremendous
spectacle with hundreds of thousands of cheering
people in the streets. Everybody who wants
to get to know the real Düsseldorf should see
this extravaganza. Helau!
