Machinery for food production
From “really cool ideas” to wafer machines: outstanding machinery and
equipment which produce a wide variety of food and luxury products are
made in Austria and exported around the world.
AHT Cooling Systems GmbH in
Rottenmann, Styria, is the worldwide
leader in “ready-to-use refrigeration
and deep-freeze systems for supermarkets”.
AHT is one of the global leaders in the icecream
sector also, and for beverage refrigeration,
it has in a very short time managed to
fi nd customers and make a name for itself
around the world as a leading brand-name
manufacturer. Its export share amounts to
more than 95%.
Also worthy of note are the products of
Maschinenfabrik Laska of Traun, which
produces commercial machinery. The highquality
butcher machines made by this innovative
family-run fi rm are exported to
110 countries thanks to the advanced technology,
and each year, they are exhibited at
up to 30 international trade fairs in cooperation
with domestic importers. Although Laska
machines, made of stainless high-grade
steel (along with a wealth of accessories), are
best known in the fi eld of meat processing,
they are suitable for a number of other uses,
such as processing fat, cheese, fruits and vegetables,
yeast, pasta, confections, etc.
The Franz Haas Waffel- und Keksanlagen-Industrie
GmbH is sometimes called a
“secret world champion”. This company in
Leobendorf, Korneuburg district, manufactures
machinery and systems for the production
of wafers, biscuits, ice-cream cones,
rolled wafers and soft wafers. It also provides
related services such as assembly and training
programmes.
Haas, which employs a staff of about 500
workers in Austria, has subsidiaries in the
USA, Brazil and Singapore and a network of
sales representatives in 60 countries. Its export
share is no less than 95%, and more
than a thousand Haas wafer-production systems
are in operation in more than 120
countries on every continent.
More than 30,000 machines manufac-
tured by the Inject Star company, quality
Austrian products, are in operation around
the world. Modern and robust, constructed
of high-grade steel, they are used in ham
production and salting technology. This
machinery is manufactured at the Hagenbrunn
location near Vienna with an extremely
high degree of vertical integration,
and more than 95% are then exported. Furthermore,
Inject Star has repeatedly introduced
outstanding innovations that simplify
or speed up the processes involved in meat
processing and/or considerably improve the
quality of the fi nished product. At present,
the company, which employs approximately
100 workers, exports its products to more
than 100 countries around the world and is
one of the leaders for food-processing machinery.
The speciality of Mitterhofer Automatisierungstechnik
Ges.m.b.H. (Markt Piesting),
which works with automation and process
technology, are systems for the food and
beverage industries. Erich Amashaufer GmbH
in Pöchlarn concentrates on refrigeration,
air-conditioning and milking systems.
Ing. Walter Hahn Bäckerei- & Konditoreitechnik
GmbH & Co KG of St. Pölten
develops and produces machinery for bakeries
and pastry shops. Other companies in
the fi eld of food machinery include ASM
Sautner (Gmunden), Batsch (Loosdorf),
Dornbirn’s Deiring Maschinen, the Lugama
company (Mauterndorf/Lungau), Rauch of
Graz, Schatz in Innsbruck and Vienna’s Toperczer,
which has made a name for itself
with innovative software solutions.
