A success around the world, based in Fuschl am See (Salzburg): “Red Bull gives you
wings!” The Rauch company’s energy drink is bottled in Nüziders (Vorarlberg).
of them illustrate the variety of Austrian foods and drinks
that is available. The most important exports are beverages,
in particular energy drinks and iced teas, sweets, confections
and specialities made by Austria’s pastry bakers, in addition
to cheese and other dairy products, fresh meat and meat
products, livestock, and preparations based on fruits and
other foods. In addition, the number of lovers of Austrian
wine and beer abroad is on the rise.
The EU’s rounds of enlargement in 2004 and 2007 and
the gradual integration of western-Balkan countries offer
opportunities similar to those in 1995. In this case, they involve
a large market with a high density of consumers who
will have considerable buying power in the future. For this
reason, Austria’s Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), the Federal
Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and
Water Management, and the Austrian Marketing Board for
Agricultural Products (AMA) have launched a special export
initiative for the purpose of providing companies with additional
specialised information and consultation services
concerning exports. The goal is increasing, quickly and sustainably,
the volume of foodstuffs exported to Central and
East European markets. It is a surprise that Austria has a positive
trade balance for agricultural products with the 12
most recent EU member countries, as these “new neighbours”
are generally considered agrarian countries. In 2007,
exports to these countries passed the million-euro mark.
AUSTRIAEXPORT
Dichte an künftig kaufkräftigen Konsumenten. Wirtschaftskammer
