Katarina Witt, die erfolgreichste
Eiskunstläuferin aller Zeiten, wird
am 3. Dezember 50 Jahre alt. Nach
wie vor ist sie nicht zu bremsen:
Gerade erschien ihr neues Buch So
viel Leben! und im neuen Jahr wird
die mehrfache Goldmedaillengewinnerin
wieder Markenbotschafterin
für Disney on Ice sein. Im Gespräch
überraschte uns die Eiskönigin mit
ihrer Leidenschaft für Rentierkostüme
und ihren Geflogenheiten fern
des Rampenlichts.
Katarina Witt, the most successful
fi gure skater of all time who
celebrates her 50th birthday this
month, is still as unstoppable as
ever. Winner of multiple gold
medals, she’s just released her
latest book called So viel Leben!
(So much life!) and will be part of
the Disney on Ice show that travels
around Germany in 2016. We talk
to the ice queen about her love for
reindeers on skates and what she
gets up to on her couch.

Buchmesse haben Sie bezüglich
ihres anstehenden runden Geburtstags
gesagt: „50 sind die neuen 30.“
Ja, eigentlich wollte ich 40 sagen, aber
irgendwie ist 30 rausgerutscht.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair you
mentioned your upcoming
milestone birthday, saying that:
“50 is the new 30”.
Yes, I actually wanted to say 40 but
somehow 30 slipped out.
Wie alt fühlen Sie sich denn?
Die Zahl ist eher abstrakt. Ich fühle
mich gut, das ist eigentlich seit Jahren
gleich. Mal zippelt’s hier, mal zippelt’s
da, aber das ist, glaub’ ich, ganz normal.
So how old do you feel?
The number itself is rather abstract.
I feel good, and that’s been the case for
years. I get the odd niggle here and
there but I think that’s fairly normal.
Sie sehen jedenfalls spitze aus...
Ich hoffe, ich bin ein Beispiel dafür,
dass man vor der Fünfzig keine
Angst haben muss.
Well, you still look fabulous
in any case.
I hope I’m proof that 50 is nothing
to be scared of.

Was gefällt Ihnen so an der Show? ambassador of Disney o
Es ist eine zauberhafte, unterhaltsame
Familienshow. Ich finde es auch toll, Ice again
die Prinzessinnen oder Arielle mit den
fantasievollen Kostümen verwirklicht
zu sehen. Aber vor allem wie sie Charaktere
wie Rentier Sven oder Schneemann
Olaf auf dem Eis umsetzen, ist
richtig lustig. Außerdem ist die Show,
genau wie die Disneyfilme, nicht nur
für Kinder. Aus Themen wie Romantik
und Liebe wächst man ja nie heraus.
You’re involved in Disney on Ice
again next year. What is it about the
show you like so much?
It’s a magical, entertaining family
show. I think it’s great to see the
princesses and Ariel brought to life
with wonderful costumes. And above
all, the way characters like Sven the
reindeer and Olaf the snowman are
portrayed on the ice is great fun. Just
like the Disney films, the show isn’t
just for kids. You never grow out of
subjects like romance and love.
