Swimming gala – 6 February 2016
With the past swimming gala I have come to realise that a DSP
family exists. It is a family consisting of learners, teachers, admin
and ground staff and parents. Parents who are involved and
willing to assist at a moment’s notice. This is certainly not the case
at all schools and I would like to thank all of the parents for their
continuous support.
The heart of the DSP family is without a doubt the learners. I
hope that all of you realise that we, your parents and teachers,
do everything with your best interest in mind, but we cannot do
everything for you. Ultimately some responsibility lies with you
and at the end of the day, the success of the swim fest depended
on all of you. So a big thank you to all learners, who used every
opportunity given by the sports staff during sports lessons to
practise and prepare you as best as possible for this event. Thank
you to all learners who listened and followed instructions correctly
and who stuck to their commitments. To those who missed their
events and those who changed their minds on the day: I’m sorry
that you missed out on the opportunity possibly to discover your
potential. I hope that next year you will have the courage to push
yourself a little more and maybe even surprise yourself. I know that
many of you are capable of a lot more.
The teachers are the head of the family. The teachers are the
driving force of the school and without each and every teacher,
this event would not have taken place. To the staff family, including
behind the scenes maintenance and tuckshop team, thank you so
much to all of you for the role you have played in making the swim
fest a success.
So, the swim fest is without a doubt a family affair. Thank you to
every single member of the DSP family!
