KICK&CODE
Kick&Code was back again this year in October for the second time:
a 4 days fun-filled holiday camp from October 3rd to 6th. Learners
from DSP, partner schools and surrounding areas were able to
start learning programming or further expanding their skills by IT
experts from SAP and get high quality soccer coaching by qualified
coaches from our DSP soccer coaches and Bundesliga professional
coaches from Eintracht Frankfurt Soccer School in Germany.
The children worked in teams and developed their own computer
games while were given the opportunity to uncover the power
of Design Thinking as a methodology to solve complex problems
and apply Project Management skills to deliver their project. On
the soccer field various drills and games were conducted to teach
novices and experienced soccer players’ new soccer techniques
while providing an environment which focuses on team- and fairplay.
The camp also provided official SAFA D-Licence for new soccer
coaches.
Again this year, the children had a lot of fun on the soccer pitch
and in the lab. As a soccer and coding coach, I truly enjoyed seeing
the spirit of the children. They were 100% committed and their
energy seemed never-ending. It seems Kick&Code manifests itself
and wants to become a regular annual event at DSP. It won’t be
possible without the dedication of the entire team: A big thank
you goes to the DSP admin, facility team, and Tuckshop to make it
happen this year and who will make it happen again next year.
