AR adds new, „Smart“ Electric Field
Probe to its Line of Star Probes
AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation has
upgraded its line of laser-powered star
probes with a new electric field probe, that
replaces the previous model FL7018. The
new model, FL7218, is a smart, fast, extremely
accurate electric field probe that contains
an internal microprocessor to provide
linearization, temperature compensation,
control, and communication functions. The
probe‘s noise reduction and temperature
compensation allow accurate measurements
down to 2 V/m without zero adjustment.
Microprocessor based linearization technology
provides a 54 dB dynamic range. When
rotated about its critical angle mount, the
probe provides typical isotropic response of
±1.5 dB to 18 GHz. The FL7218 is laserpowered
to allow for continuous operation
without recharging or battery replacement.
The FL7218 star probe joins other AR field
probes to create what AR describes.

Anritsu announces the MD8475A
Signaling Tester
Anritsu Corporation announces their new
MD8475A Signaling Tester - a complete
test solution for multimode Smartphone
and mobile terminals which support highspeed
LTE communications system as well
as being suitable for chipset and mobile
telecom operator acceptance testing. The
MD8475A also operates as a base station
simulator supporting both 2G and 3G
GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, W-CDMA/HSPA and
CDMA2000 1x/1x EVDO technologies.
Using the MD8475A, developers are able
to run call-processing and service tests of
multimode LTE smartphones and mobile
terminals, without having to create complex
sequence programs. In addition, the
MD8475A is able to test CS-Fallback and
handover between LTE and 2G/3G systems
and boasts higher R&D efficiency and configurable
test environments. A built-in PC
running Windows 7 OS eliminates the need
for an external PC controller and server,
which helps cut the space footprint for personal
benchtop test environments.
The MD8475A supports every test required
for R&D of multimode LTE Smartphones
and mobile terminals, including basic call
processing (voice, packet, and SMS/MMS
tests), max. throughput with 2x2 MIMO
environment, battery current consumption,
CS-Fallback and handover.
