AR adds new, „Smart“ Electric Field<br />

Probe to its Line of Star Probes<br />

AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation has<br />

upgraded its line of laser-powered star<br />

probes with a new electric field probe, that<br />

replaces the previous model FL7018. The<br />

new model, FL7218, is a smart, fast, extremely<br />

accurate electric field probe that contains<br />

an internal microprocessor to provide<br />

linearization, temperature compensation,<br />

control, and communication functions. The<br />

probe‘s noise reduction and temperature<br />

compensation allow accurate measurements<br />

down to 2 V/m without zero adjustment.<br />

Microprocessor based linearization technology<br />

provides a 54 dB dynamic range. When<br />

rotated about its critical angle mount, the<br />

probe provides typical isotropic response of<br />

±1.5 dB to 18 GHz. The FL7218 is laserpowered<br />

to allow for continuous operation<br />

without recharging or battery replacement.<br />

The FL7218 star probe joins other AR field<br />

probes to create what AR describes.<br />

Anritsu announces the MD8475A<br />

Signaling Tester<br />

Anritsu Corporation announces their new<br />

MD8475A Signaling Tester - a complete<br />

test solution for multimode Smartphone<br />

and mobile terminals which support highspeed<br />

LTE communications system as well<br />

as being suitable for chipset and mobile<br />

telecom operator acceptance testing. The<br />

MD8475A also operates as a base station<br />

simulator supporting both 2G and 3G<br />

GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, W-CDMA/HSPA and<br />

CDMA2000 1x/1x EVDO technologies.<br />

Using the MD8475A, developers are able<br />

to run call-processing and service tests of<br />

multimode LTE smartphones and mobile<br />

terminals, without having to create complex<br />

sequence programs. In addition, the<br />

MD8475A is able to test CS-Fallback and<br />

handover between LTE and 2G/3G systems<br />

and boasts higher R&D efficiency and configurable<br />

test environments. A built-in PC<br />

running Windows 7 OS eliminates the need<br />

for an external PC controller and server,<br />

which helps cut the space footprint for personal<br />

benchtop test environments.<br />

The MD8475A supports every test required<br />

for R&D of multimode LTE Smartphones<br />

and mobile terminals, including basic call<br />

processing (voice, packet, and SMS/MMS<br />

tests), max. throughput with 2x2 MIMO<br />

environment, battery current consumption,<br />

CS-Fallback and handover.<br />
