To generate a more concise report, a set of filters can be specified.<br />

The trcrpt command allows a large set of filters. The following types of filters<br />

are possible:<br />

► Limit report on event hook IDs.<br />

► Limit report on process IDs.<br />

► Limit the report to a specific time.<br />

9.5.4 Tracing example<br />

The report format can be customized using the trcrpt -O command with an<br />

option value. For example, adding the process ID of a calling process into the<br />

report can be created by the following command:<br />

# trcprt -O pid=on -o /tmp/trace.out<br />

The following describes how to use the trace facility to analyze a hung process.<br />

In this example, an aixterm process is using 100 percent of one CPU. Figure 9-4<br />

shows the output of a topas command display.<br />
