umount /usr<br />

umount /dev/hd4<br />

mount -f /<br />

mount /usr; mount /var<br />

Copy boot messages to alog<br />

The second part of this phase is shown in Figure 3-8, and the following steps are<br />

taken:<br />

1. The copy of rootvg’s RAMFS’ ODM and /dev directories will occur (mergedev).<br />

This is possible because the temporary mount point, /mnt, is used for the<br />

mounted root file system.<br />

2. Next, the /usr and /var from the RAMFS are unmounted.<br />

3. Finally, the root file system from rootvg (disk) is mounted over the root file<br />

system from the RAMFS. The mount points for the rootvg file systems<br />

become available. Now the /var and /usr file systems from the rootvg can be<br />

mounted again on their ordinary mount points.<br />

There is no console available at this stage, so all boot messages will be copied to<br />

alog. The alog command can maintain and manage logs.<br />
