The following section shows a summary of some of the commands and their<br />

flags used for CPU performance problem determination.<br />

10.8.1 The sar command<br />

The sar command collects, reports, or saves system activity information.<br />

The syntax of the sar command:<br />

/usr/sbin/sar [ { -A | [ -a ] [ -b ] [ -c ] [ -d ][ -k ] [ -m ] [ -q ] [ -r ]<br />

[ -u ] [ -V ] [ -v ] [<br />

-w ] [ -y ] } ] [ -P ProcessorIdentifier, ... | ALL ] [ -ehh [ :mm [ :ss ] ] ]<br />

[ -fFile ] [<br />

-iSeconds ] [ -oFile ] [ -shh [ :mm [ :ss ] ] ] [ Interval [ Number ] ]<br />

Flags Description<br />

10.8.2 The ps command<br />

-u Displays %idle, %sys, %usr, and %wio<br />

-P ALL Reports per-processor statistics for each individual processor, and<br />

globally for all processors<br />

The ps command shows the current status of the processes.<br />

The syntax of the ps command is (X/Open, then Berkeley):<br />

ps [ -A ] [ -N ] [ -a ] [ -d ] [ -e ] [ -f ] [ -k ] [ -l ] [ -F format]<br />

[ -o Format ] [ -c Clist ] [<br />

-G Glist ] [ -g Glist ] [ -m ] [ -n NameList ] [ -p Plist ] [ -t Tlist ]<br />
