11.3 Software inventory<br />

After all the software installations, you can check what is really installed with the<br />

instfix and lslpp commands.<br />

1. To display the most recent level, state, description and all updates of the<br />

bos.sysmgt.trace fileset, run the following command:<br />

# lslpp -La bos.sysmgt.trace<br />

2. To see whether fix IX78215 is installed or information about each fileset<br />

associated with it, run the following command:<br />

# instfix -ik IX78215 -v<br />

IX78215 Abstract: trace allocates too much memory<br />

Fileset bos.sysmgt.trace:4.3.1.1 is applied on the system.<br />

All filesets for IX78215 were found.<br />

3. To list maintenance level updates, enter:<br />

# instfix -i -tp<br />

All filesets for 4.3.1.0_<strong>AIX</strong>_ML were found.<br />

All filesets for 4.3.2.0_<strong>AIX</strong>_ML were found.<br />

All filesets for 4.3.1.0_<strong>AIX</strong>_ML were found.<br />

All filesets for 4.3.2.0_<strong>AIX</strong>_ML were found.<br />

All filesets for 4.3.3.0_<strong>AIX</strong>_ML were found.<br />

Or run instfix -i | grep ML.<br />

11.4 Command summary<br />

This section shows a summary of some of the commands and their flags that are<br />

used for CPU performance problem determination.<br />

11.4.1 The lslpp command<br />

The lslpp command displays information about installed filesets or fileset<br />

updates. The command has the following syntax:<br />

lslpp { -f | -h | -i | -L } ] [ -a ] [ FilesetName ... | FixID ... | all ]<br />

The most commonly used flags are provided in Table 11-2 on page 316.<br />
