Pump operating point<br />
When a pump is installed in a system, the effect can be illustrated graphically<br />
by superimposing pump and system curves. The operating point will always be<br />
where the two curves intersect, as shown in Figure 7-6.<br />

It is ideal if the operating duty point of a pump is close to the design<br />
best efficiency point, which implies that careful attenti<strong>on</strong> is needed in sizing<br />
the pump for an applicati<strong>on</strong>, as oversizing would lead to reduced operati<strong>on</strong>al<br />
efficiency.<br />
