o It will ask, “Do you want to include Time?” select NO<br />

o Press Load on the RT and your Radio will Load Crypto<br />

• To load time into<br />

o Set FCTN switch to LD.<br />

o Press the TIME button on the keypad.<br />

o When you press the time button, two numbers appear and they are the<br />

Julian date. After you see them, press CLR to clear the numbers and type<br />

the appropriate Julian date, then press STO, and proceed to press TIME<br />

again.<br />

o Once the time button has been pressed again, four other numbers appear<br />

and they are the hours and minutes.<br />

o Press the time button again and the minute and seconds are displayed. At<br />

this point you should have another radio with the correct time ready to<br />

give you the time you need for your radio, unless you have loaded the time<br />

with a PSN-11; in which while on tour in Iraq, you will get your time from<br />

a reliable source because everyone’s time is different here.<br />

o On your radio, type the current hour and then type the next minute. DO<br />

NOT PRESS STO YET.<br />

o On the radio with the reliable time, display the seconds until the correct<br />

time has been counted down, in which you press STO on the radio<br />

receiving the correct time.<br />

o The seconds on the receiving radio shouldn’t be off any more than four<br />

seconds, or you won’t be able to communicate. But in reality to be safe,<br />

you shouldn’t have the seconds off no more than 1 second.<br />

• Use of the function switches.<br />

o THE FCTN SWITCH:<br />

o OFF cuts the power off.<br />

o Z-FH zeroizes the crypto.<br />

o REM is used when the radio is remoted to another radio set.<br />

o RXMT is used for retrans.<br />

o SQ OFF is used to make noise for the radio observer and it is used to talk<br />

to some civilian radios.<br />

o SQ ON doesn’t make any noise for the radio observer.<br />

o LD is used to load or make changes.<br />

o TST is used to test the radio<br />

o STBY is used for standby so you can cut your power source off and not<br />

loose crypto. STBY runs off a battery inside the portion of the radio<br />

labeled HUB. When the HUB battery is bad then a diamond will appear in<br />

the right hand side of the display screen.<br />

o THE MODE SWITCH:<br />

SC is the single channel switch.<br />

FH is the freq hop switch<br />

FH-M is the freq hop master.<br />

o THE COMSEC SWITCH:<br />
