103 Safety Fundamentals<br />

TRAINING<br />

Installation or unit safety office shall provide training to all <strong>Marine</strong> Corps<br />

<strong>personnel</strong> who are required to use PPE as identified by PPE survey. Each worker<br />

shall be trained to know at least the following:<br />

o When PPE is necessary.<br />

o What PPE is necessary.<br />

o How to properly put on, take off, adjust and wear PPE.<br />

o Limitations of PPE.<br />

o Proper care, maintenance, useful life, and disposal of PPE.<br />

HEAD PROTECTION<br />

Head protection equipment is designed to protect workers' head from bumps, cuts,<br />

impact, penetration, and electric shock, or any combination thereof.<br />

HEARING PROTECTION (HEARING CONSERVATION PROGRAM)<br />

Hearing protective devices shall be worn by all <strong>personnel</strong> when they enter or work in an<br />

area where the operations generate noise levels of:<br />

o Greater than 84 dBA (8 hour TWA) sound level.<br />

o 140 dB peak sound pressure level or greater.<br />
