Weapons 115<br />

• Strike the bottom of the cap a sharp blow with the palm of<br />

your right or left hand or strike it on a hard surface, keeping<br />

your left or right arm rigid.<br />

• In the event of a misfire, while keeping the signal aimed,<br />

pull the cap back to the red knurled band and rotate 90<br />

degrees. Make two more attempts to fire. If it still does not<br />

fire, wait 30 seconds keeping the arm rigid and the signal<br />

aimed overhead. Return the cap to the ejection end of the<br />

signal and turn it in to the ammunition supply point.<br />

Warning<br />

o Keep away from fire.<br />

o Don’t handle if damaged or if parts are missing.<br />

o Handle carefully and use basic issue leather work gloves and full helmet<br />

when possible.<br />

o Aim at all times away from face, body, and friendly troops.<br />

o Before items are launched check wind to achieve height for visibility.<br />

o Avoid overhead obstacles (foliage and so forth).<br />

o Avoid fallout (rocket parts and so forth).<br />

o Maintain at least a 45-degree elevation to launch.<br />

o Check wind to avoid fire, smoke inhalation, or irritation with all<br />

pyrotechnic items.<br />
