Appointed to enquire into some Aggrievance and the way to l. h. j.<br />

redress them &"<br />

1. As to that Part which relates to the Custody of the Great<br />

Seal being the Hands of the Governor it's the Opinion of all<br />

the Conferrees that is an Aggrievance and that the Way to<br />

redress it is by the Council and Assembly joining in an Address<br />

to her Majesty as proposed<br />

2. As to the second relating to one Person being a Justice<br />

in the Provincial and County Courts at one and the same Time<br />

the Conferrees agree it is an Aggrievance and the Honble<br />

Members of her Majesty's Council acquaint the Gent, of the<br />

House of Delegates that it is already redressed.<br />

3. As to what relates to one Person holding several Offices<br />

it is the Opinion of the Conferrees that if any Person hold the<br />

Chancellor's Office, the Comry General's Office, Secretary's<br />

Office, Sheriff's Office, a Clerk of the County Courts Office<br />

together with any other Office or Place of Profit it is an Aggrievance<br />

and that the House of Delegates address the Council<br />

Board to redress it as far as in them lie<br />

4. As to the fourth which relates to the County Courts<br />

Commissions, the Conferrees agree that they having to seperate<br />

Commissions is an Aggrievance and that it may be<br />

redressed by having one Commission for all as formerly and<br />

that the Number of Justices exceed not Eight in any County<br />

5"" As to the fifth which relates to the Sheriffs and others<br />

buying of Offices the Conferrees agree it is a great Aggrievance<br />

and it is the Opinion of the Conferrees that for the future the<br />

Justices of County Courts in March Court before the Sheriffs<br />

Time expires nominate two or three Persons for Sheriffs out<br />

of which the Governor and Council shall appoint one for<br />

Sheriff<br />

6 As to what relates to the Provincial Courts Jurisdiction<br />

in small Sums the Conferries agree it is a great Aggrievance<br />

and that the proper way and Time to redress it will be by<br />

making Application to the next Governor and that in the mean<br />

Time the County Courts Commissions may be enlarged.<br />

All which is submitted to the Consideration of her Majesty's<br />

Honble Council and the House of Delegates<br />
