L. H. J. for Relief of poor Debtors and languishing Prisoners we never<br />

Lib. 41. received any Reason for the Repeal of the Act for ascertaining<br />

what Damages shall be allowed on Protested Bills of Exchange.<br />

And for the Town Laws we have received no particular<br />

Reasons ; but that there are the like Objections to them as to<br />

the Laws for Towns in Virginia.<br />

The Reasons read and sent back by M' Mariartee and M'<br />

Hemsly. They return and say they delivered the Papers<br />

William Coursey Esq from the Council enters the House<br />

and delivers M' Speaker the following Message.<br />

By the Council in Assembly October 26"' 1710<br />

We herewith send you for your Inspection the Proceedings<br />

lately transacted by the Honble John Hall Esq. and Col° James<br />

Maxwell with the great Men of the five Nations and Queen of<br />

the Susquehannah Indians.<br />

Read and ordered to lye on the Table<br />

M' Jowles and M' Greenfield report That pursuant to an<br />

Order of the House they acquainted the Chaptico Indians of<br />

the House's Favour to them and that the Money still lies in<br />

the Treasurer's Hands and the Indians are willing to take the<br />

same.<br />

The House adjourns 'till to Morrow Morning Nine O'Clock<br />

Friday 27'" October 1710<br />

The House met according to Adjournment. Being called<br />

over were present as yesterday. Read what was done yesterday.<br />

267 M' Daniel Pearce, IVP Edward Scott, M' James Harris, and<br />

M' Thomas Ringgold Members for Kent County enter the<br />

House. And Ordered M' Scott, M' Harris and M' Ringgold<br />

withdraw till the Council sit to qualify them as Members of<br />

this House<br />

Proposed by a Member of this House that whereas several<br />

Palatines arrived in this Province last Spring and not where to<br />

supply themselves but lived upon the Charity of some People<br />

that it is reasonable they should be Levy free this Year. To<br />

which the House concurred And Ordered a Message be prepared<br />

and sent up to the Honble Council for their Concurrence.<br />
