A Subset Definition may specify the membership of a Subset.<br />

3.2.4.2. Subset Tables - Summary<br />

Subsets provide a way for users and implementers to limit the set of <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT Concepts and Descriptions<br />

for a particular purpose.There are several types of subsets already defined for specific goals, and other types<br />

will be utilized in the future.<br />

A common file structure is used for all Subsets.This approach simplifies the release structure and installation<br />

process for all <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT users.<br />

Subsets are released using two tables:<br />

3.2.4.2.1. Subsets Table - Summary<br />

Each row in this table describes one release of a Subset.<br />

This table includes <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT Subsets that are packaged together<br />

in the Subset Members table.<br />

Each row in this table represents one member of a Subset.<br />

The member may be a Concept or a Description. One or more Subsets<br />

may be packaged together in this table.<br />

Each row in the Subsets Table describes a Subset and characteristics of that Subset.<br />

The unique <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT Identifier for the original Subset of which this<br />

Subset is a version.<br />

An integer incremented for each revised release of a Subset.<br />

A name that describes the purpose or usage of this Subset.<br />

Indicates the nature of the Subset and the type of <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT<br />

Component that may be a member of the Subset.<br />

Identifies the Language and optionally the Dialect to which the Subset<br />

applies (only used for description -based subsets: Language, Realm<br />

Description, and Realm Concept).<br />

Identifies the Realm to which the Subset applies.<br />
