We can now use the temporary table information to build the tree view from the top down. Starting at A, add<br />

a node to the tree view. Work recursively from the information in the temporary view of the hierarchy to add<br />

the descendants of 'A' into the tree view.<br />

4.4.3. Applying Subsets<br />

A Subset refers to a set of Concepts, Descriptions, or Relationships that are appropriate to a particular<br />

language, dialect, country, specialty, organization , user or context.<br />

In its simplest form, a Subset is a list of <strong>SNOMED</strong> Clinical Terms Identifiers (SCTIDs). Each SCTID refers to<br />

one component of <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT, and makes it a member of the Subset (a Subset Member).<br />

Example:<br />

As an analogy, think of <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT is a book. A Subset is like an index entry pointing to a set of pages<br />

relevant to a particular topic.<br />
