Although it can also be used to display a hierarchy of subtypes it does not have a specified or natural display order. More effective browser navigation is supported by use of a Navigation Subset. Table 86: CharacteristicType Values Value 0 1 Defining Qualifier Meaning This relationship represents a defining characteristic of the source concept. Hierarchical relationships (e.g. | is a |) are also regarded as defining relationships. Example:" | procedure site | = | liver |" is a defining characteristic of "Liver biopsy'. This relationship represents an optional qualifying characteristic.
