Cross maps table<br />

A data table consisting of rows each of which represents a Cross Map.<br />

Note: Component Table name in <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Format</strong> 1<br />

CTV3ID<br />

A five-character code allocated to a meaning or term in Clinical Terms Version 3 (CTV3, previously known<br />

as Read Codes). Each row in the <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT concepts table has a field for the corresponding concept<br />

code from CTV3.<br />

Note: Field name in <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Format</strong> 1<br />

Note: The CTV3ID and <strong>SNOMED</strong>ID fields are no longer supported in <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Format</strong> 2. Instead a |Simple<br />

map (reference set)| is used to document the link between legacy codes and <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT.<br />

Note: The CTV3ID field should no longer be relied upon for mapping to and from the Read Codes. Additional<br />

mapping work in the UK identified some anomalies and resulted development of more flexibility table for Read<br />

DescriptionId<br />

A <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT Identifier that uniquely identifies a Description.<br />

Descriptions table<br />

A data table consisting of rows, each of which represents a Description.<br />

Note: Component Table name in <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Format</strong> 1<br />

DescriptionStatus<br />

A field in the Descriptions Table that specifies whether a Description is in current use.Values include "current",<br />

"duplicate", "erroneous" "inappropriate" and "limited".<br />

DescriptionType<br />

A field in the Descriptions Table that specifies whether a Description is a Fully Specified Name, Preferred<br />

Term, or Synonym.The DescriptionType is language dependent and may be changed by applying a Language<br />

Subset. It may be "undefined" in the released Descriptions Table in which case the Description is not used<br />

unless an appropriate Language Subset is applied.<br />

Dualkey<br />

A key used to facilitate textual searches of <strong>SNOMED</strong> CT that consists of the first three letters of a pair of<br />

words in a Description. All possible pairs of words in each Description may be paired irrespective of their<br />

relative position in the Description. Dualkeys are represented as a row in the Dualkeys Table.<br />
